Microsoft Word 2003:
Our company has recently upgraded from Office 97 to Office 2003. When
we select the "Envelopes and Labels" feature within Word 2003
(Tools/Letters and Mailings/Envelopes and Labels), and click the
address book icon, we are directed to our companies Global Address
Book by default. We are then able to use the combo box within the
address book that pops up to select the Outlook Contacts list, if we
so desire. We would like to know if it is possible to have the
Outlook Contacts list pop up first, by default (rather than the Global
Address Book) after clicking the address book icon in the Envelopes
and Labels window.
We know of one way in which this may be accomplished, however it comes
with an unwanted side-effect. If we click the address book icon
within Outlook 2003, and then select Tools/Options, we are able to
make a change in the "Show this address list first:" combo box from
Global Address Book to Outlook Contacts. This resolves the issue
mentioned in paragraph one above, however, we would like to have the
Global Address Book shown first when clicking the address book icon
within Outlook 2003. Hence, this method of resolving the issue is
unacceptable.
We did not have the problem mentioned in paragraph one above within MS
Word 97. We were able to resolve the issue by utilizing the Mail
Merge feature, selecting "Get Data" under the "Data Source" title, and
then selecting "Use Address Book...". We were then able to select the
address list of our choice, which would then be the default address
list used when clicking the address book icon within the Envelopes and
Labels window.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Should you have any
further questions regarding the issue, please contact me.
Thanks,
