Word 2003 - Form protection not working

I am trying to set up a form, using the Form toolbar.

I set up the form in the layout I want, and then click on the padlock
to protect the form.

However, when text is entered into the form, it causes the field text
to be shifted right, and this ruins the layout.

Any idea, why the protect form is not preserving the layout, and any
ideas how I can overcome this issue.

Did you protect the cells you want to protect before "protecting" the
worksheet in the way you want to via tools?

Please ignore my last comment. I did not mean to send it out. I do
not have an answer. I was thinking about another software product,
Excel. I apologize profusely. Steve G
