word 2003 freezes while typing

hello,
i'm using word 2003 on xp pro, writing documents in hebrew
on large files, while i type, word freezes for 10 secs and the little
book with the pencil seems to be busy..
it happens al the time, not giving me a chance to work...
i turned off grammar and spelling check, and still nothing changes.

can anyone help ?
