This odd bug is just too weird and I need some help on finding a
solution.

A number of our users have complained to us in the past that some
documents that they would open on a network shared drive, then edit,
save and close, would simply freeze their Word application when they
closed it.

To reproduce this, under their profile, was done simply by opening a
word document in a network folder, editing it (even a few letters),
saving it, and closing the document. At no point in time during any of
this manipulation did Word have any issues, except when hitting the
close button (X).

The big problem is that this is intermittent, does not happen with all
users nor on all shared drives, and is very hard to track down (and
even reproduce by our tech staff). It's not just profile related, as
some of these users can move from one computer to another (or their
computer and a terminal server or citrix server) and have the same
issue on both.

Right now a few users are getting this issue at any time by doing the
following:
- Opening Outlook
- Starting to write an email to someone
- Opening another email sent from a colleague and opening a word
document attached to it.
- Edit the word document sent from the colleague, saving it, and then
closing it.

At this point Word and Outlook both freeze. The word document they are
editing is not attached to their new email. Oddly, if they save the
document, attach it to their email and send it, and then close the
document... It closes without any issue.

Does anyone have any idea about this?
