Word 2003 from Word 2000 Graphic Problem

When I pull up a doc that was created in Word 2000 and move a graphic, the
graphic disappears. Click undo and its back but where it started from. I
can nudge it slightly and it's okay but anything more, and POOF!! gone.
HELP!! There are a lot of these docs that need updating and have a lot of
graphics and text. Can anyone help?
