A client has marked up changes in several document that I created.
When I try to open any of these documents, Word hangs after a second or
so. The window resize button grays out. Menu buttons don't work. If
I click anywhere in the Word window, I get the "(Not Responding)"
addition to the window title. I can close the window by clicking on
the top-right close button, then send an error report to microsoft.
If I open the document with the 'Open and Repair' option, I'm told that
Word has repaired an error "Data Integrity Error (Type 4) 1". I save
the repaired file, but get the same error on opening the new file.
I'm using Word 2003 under Windows XP. I have installed the latest
Service Packs and other updates to both Word and Windows.
A colleage can open the documents with Word 2000 with no problem.
Any ideas? Anyone else experiencing anything similar?
