Word 2003 how to insert Powerpoint graphics

I have a complex powerpoint drawing, also containing a few dozens of
text boxes to describe the elements in the drawing. The drawing covers
a full page.

Therefore the drawing is turned by 90 degrees (otherwise it would not
fit into the word document, which is not set to landscape) in
Powerpoint and then inserted with copy/paste into Word 2003.

In Powerpoint everything looks fine, but in Word the direction of the
text is automatically "corrected", leading to a wrong text direction! I
will not reformat in Word 2003 the whole stupid drawing which took my
hours to create, that's for sure!

I tried several methods:
plain insert as 'inline' object into Word
plain insert as 'non-inline' object into Word
create drawing canvas, insert into drawing canvas (with and without
inline-option)
shut off smart copy and paste
shut off 'automatically insert drawing using drawing canvas'

none of them worked. but I know it can work, because i did it before.
It just has to be the right combinations of the options! Who is the
expert that knows how to handle this?

Any hints are welcome!

Try saving the Powerpoint slide as a jpg file (File>Save As, select jpg as
the type), then insert it in Word as a graphic.
