Why?

All of my regional settings in XP say Australian. Other computers
running it have measurements in metric. What is the problem?

Help!

OK, as no-one else has turned up...

I use Win98 & Word 2002, but if I'm understanding your problem
correctly, the answer will be the same.

Your operating system is set to Australia region - fine. But, Word
will have its own setting for units of measurement. In Word 2002, with
a document open, you can opt for inches, centimetres, millimetres,
points (1/72") or picas (1/6") by clicking Tools > Options > General.
Hope it's the same for Word 2003 ;)
