word 2003 jumps to the top of a document unexpectedly

i have a 30-page document with numerous tables and figures, in Word
11.5604.5606, running on xp. often, anywhere in the document, as i
navigate with the up cursor or page-up key more than a few times in a
row, the document jumps to the first page. it happens so often that
editing the document is a headache. has anyone seen this before?

Hi mark,

The document may have become corrupted. Try copy and paste the entire
document _except_ the last paragraph into a new one, and work with the new
document. Any better?
