I have a very strange problem with just one document. The document is fairly
large (about 100 pages). The problem is that if you type text and any
location in the document, Word locks up -- the program freezes with no error
message, "Not Responding" appears in the title bar, and the only way to
proceed is to kill the program.
The lock-up doesn't happen immediately upon typing -- sometimes it happens
after a few words, sometimes after a few lines.
The problem is repeatable on three different computers.
Here's what I have tried so far -- none of this has worked:
1. Copy all but the final paragraph mark & paste into a new document.
2. Start Word is Safe Mode.
3. Delete Normal.dot.
4. Assign a different template.
5. Select the entire document and remove all pagination options via
Format-->Paragraph.
6. Switch to Normal View and disable background pagination.
7. Delete the TOC that appears near the start of the document.
I'd appreciate if anyone has any other ideas I might try.
Thanks,
Doug
