Word 2003 no longer works with Outlook 2003

I get the same error as everyone here. "Word is unavailable..." I'e tried
everything listed in the threads below and all "fixes" listed in the
knowledgebase pertaining to this error. Nothing works. Aside from giving up
on Word as my email editor, I can't get around it. My problem started after
installing the critical updates posted this week. Coincidence?? Is anyone
from MS seeing these posts?

Help?!?!

much!

I read this post with interest since I had not yet installed the latest
critical offerings from MS. I installed the updates one at a time and checked
the operation of Outlook using Word as the email editor. I have not seen any
adverse effects as yet. I am using a POP3 account. Is the problem strictly
associated with network operations or did I just get lucky? If I do
experience anomalies, I will definitely remove 908531. Thank you Diane.

There's more to it than just the update but I don't know what the issue is,
so my recommendation is to install it and if you experience problems,
uninstall that one first.

Well, It was fun while it lasted. Auto Update pushed down 908531 again this
morning. Now unistalling it doesn't help at all. Any more ideas?

Ouch. I guess it's too late to say 'disable autoupdate'? <g> (It hasn' t
been pushed down here at all yet.)

BTW - apparently it's related to HP drivers - if you have an hp printer,
scanner, camera or any other hp device installed you may be affected. I
don't know if uninstalling the device (or just disconnecting it) helps but
MS is working on fixing it.

It's back. Like a bad rash. After the security "fix" pushed down on tuesday
night. The Outlook/Word problem has resurfaced. I removed the update, no help.

Side effects that I noticed last time but thought were unrelated...

1. Left click on MS intellimouse explorer 4.0 only works sometimes
2. Winword.exe is running as a service all by itself.
