Windows XP Professional – SP2
Microsoft Office Word 2003 (11.6359.6360) SP1

When attempting a file conversion, currently receiving the pop up message
"Word cannot start the converter XX" where XX is one of the several
converters usually available. Problem began after SP2 loading. Have performed
Word 2003 uninstalled, reinstalled, updated, downloaded and re-installed
converter pack with same result. Any suggestions?

Maybe if you said specifically which "older file formats" you're talking
about, someone could offer a suggestion.

After further testing several archived formats, the only format that is now
not converting is Works for windows 4.0. The pop up error message reads "Word
cannot start the converter WORKS432". Have noted must press the okay button
two to three times before presented with pop up window "select option that
makes document readable".

The old Works converters are no longer available from Microsoft, but you can
still get them from Word MVP Graham Mayor's website
http://www.gmayor.com/downloads.htm (scroll about half-way down the page to
the File Converter Downloads section). Put the works432.cnv file in your
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\TextConv" folder.
