Word 2003 - peer to peer network

It takes a long time for my computer to populate
the "look-in box" when I click the "Open"
icon. The files are on another computer
on a Microsoft peer to peer network.
I get the "Searchlight" for about 30 seconds
before the files show up. I was told this might
have something to do with mapped drives?

Can anyone shed some insight?
