I am having a similar problem to someone else on the site. I have a Home
Vista computer with Office 2003. I connect to another XP computer with
an Epson Stylus printer installed. I have no difficulty installing the
drivers from the Vista computer. I have installed the latest Vista
drivers for the printer on the XP computer.
I am able to print a test page from the Vista computer.
I am able to print from Excel to the XP computer's Epson printer.
When I try to print any pages from Word 2003, there is a very long
pause, and an error message in Word 2003 indicating that it is unable to
communicate with the printer, asking if I would like to wait longer. If
I select yes, the problem repeats itself. If I select no, I get a list
of installed printers on this Vista computer, including the Epson. If I
try to select it from the menu, Word basically freezes.
Believe it or not, Microsoft many months ago contacted me when I
complained about this issue. They thought they had solved it (after 3
hours of mucking around in the computer) by replacing the network
computer address with the IP address. However, this only worked for a
day or so. There is clearly an issue with Microsoft product compability.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer/drivers numerous
times with absolultely no success. Does anyone have a solution?
