Word 2003 prints blank pages

Attempting to print standard text from Word 2003. The printer (HP7150) is
called, prepares to print, but does not actually print. Prior to printing,
the paper is ejected with no printing. Any ideas?

Is your printing problem unique to word, or does it occur with other apps as
well?

No, unique to word. Web shots and other MS programs print fine. I suspect
it has something to do with background printing or hidden postscript control
characters. Any idea how to check such things. I have gone into the printer
properties and managed to get the pages to print by playing with the various
options mentioned above. But it's a pain to have to hassle with such
settings on a case-by-case basis.
