Word 2003 problem with Right Margin

P

Pete Nightingale

Hi, I have a .txt file which contains a series of long lines of text,
each of which is actually a letter. I open this in word, to run a
macro for editing and email, with the 'Wrap trailing spaces to next
line' option in Tools/options/compatibility set so the document opens
up displaying each letter as a paragraph of 22 lines of 80 characters.
This works fine at word 97/word 2000, but at word 2003 all the letters
(paragraphs) except the last one appear with 81 characters per line.
Displaying control characters shows that the extra character per line
is after the margin.
The last letter is dispayed correctly.
Adjusting the margin position to correct the line length to 80 for the
earlier letters causes the last letter to drop to 79 characters.
Can anyone explain this and offer a way to correct the document format.
Thanks
Pete
