Word 2003 Saving Problem

When saving a document using the "Save As" function in MS Office Word 2003, I
have trouble getting to the directory I want to save the document in because
it gets "hung up" before allowing me access to each level and can take about
2-3 minutes for each path. What is the problem and how can I correct it?
Thank you.

My guess is that you either have a dead mapped drive or some other invalid
path in the file list. Try removing all mapped drives and see if that clears
the problem. Then remap.

I have been manually choosing the path so I do not know how to identify if
there is an unmapped drive. Please provide additional details. Thank you.

In Windows XP, right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows
desktop or in the Start menu, left-click on Disconnect Network Drive,
and disconnect any mapped drives that are not currently available.
