Word 2003 Shutdown Problem

I'm having a problem with Microsoft Word. When I one or more Word docs open
I will often click on the desktop quick launch icon to minimize all programs
so that I can open another document from my desktop. When I click on a Word
document on my taskbar to restore the window, all open Word documents close.
Any fixes?
