Word 2003 Shutting down

I am having a problem with Word. I minimize Word to do something else and
when I try to return to Word it simply closes. No warning, no message, no
saving changes.

Any ideas?

This is a bug with eh Handwriting Recognition part of Office. Run Office
Setup, select Advanced options and look for Alternative inputs. Deselect the
Handwriting Recognition. OK and setup will remove it and the problem will be
resolved.

If you need/use the handwriting recognition, then it is safe to reverse the
procedure as the problem rarely recurs.
