[Word 2003 SP1 bug] Track Changes and Shift-F3

Chris Smith

With Tools | TrackChanges enabled, highlighting and altering the
capitalization of a word using the Shift-F3 keyboard shortcut triggers no
visible difference in the document. User expects a change from "capitalize
me" to "CAPITALIZE ME" to "Capitalize Me" to register somehow.
It's a left-handed compliment to the developers that you have to use some
obscure keyboard shortcuts to find even such a minor flaw.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

I agree that it's not the expected behavior and could be classed as a
bug. Also, it isn't just the Shift+F3 shortcut; none of the actions in
the Format > Change Case dialog cause anything to be tracked.

However, I can confirm that the same behavior occurs in Word 2000 and
2002, so I expect that Microsoft would tell you that it "works as
designed" and they're not likely to change it.

If it's important for your reviewing cycle to have that kind of change
tracked, you'll have to do it by typing over the existing letters
instead of using the Change Case feature.
