Word 2003 spell check not working

Vicki

Hi Everyone,

I have gone through past posts but am unable to find a solution to my
problem. I am using MS Word 2003 on Vista. Yeah! When I click on spell
check, I get a window that says my proofing tools is not set to English when
it is. I have gone through the drills that I have found and I can't figure
it out. When I click ok the spell check goes through and says it's complete.
I also don't have the squiggly lines when I miss spell a word. I hope you
can help me. Unfortunately I rely on it heavily with my work documents and
have been told I have many typos. That brought the error to my attention.
It does work for email.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Hi Vicki,

When you say "it does work for email", do you mean you are using
Outlook/Outlook Express with Word set at the editor? If so, that's very odd
that normal Word doesn't work.

I'd recommend either reinstalling Office, or doing a repair on it, as the
proofing tools appear to be missing for the English dictionary. When
installing, check that the proofing tools are selected for installation.
I've had problems with this with Office 2007 where the proofing tools were
disabled in the installer by default for some silly reason.

Hi Nick,

Thank you so much. It worked. I can't believe I didn't think of doing
that. I guess that's why this message board is here.

Thanks again.
