word 2003 spell shecker

My spell checker has been on the fritz. I have now got it to at least try to
work. But now as soon as you hit spell check it says it is complete and
nothing changed, it did check anything. I went through the language settings
and they seem fine, can you help?

Somehow your document has be set to No Proofing. Use SelectAll and then
Tools, Language, Select Language and clear the check box.

I already did that after reading a few other posts. Now its error message
says -
"cannot find proof reading tools for English, for more information see
microsoft website". And that is where I am now.

Open Word and look under the Help menu where you will find the option
listed.
