Word 2003 spelling in Swedish language does not work

My installation is Word 2003 in Swedish. When I create documents in English
the spelling and grammer works fine, but in Swedish I get the error message:

"Microsoft Office Word cannot check the spelling or grammer in this
document. This function is not installed. Do You want to install it now?" (I
have translated the message to English).

When I press YES I get the error message:

"Microsoft Office Word cannot check spelling or grammer in this document.
The function is not available"

When I press OK I get next error message:

"Microsoft Office Word cannot check spelling or grammer in this document. An
error occured and the function does not longer work correctly. Do You want to
repair it now?"

When I press YES I get #2 of the messages above. After a few iterations
spelling the error messages does no longer appear, and spelling is obviously
disabled in the present document.

In my former installation (Office 2000) I had about the same problem.

Have Swedish proofing tools been installed? Which language is applied to
text (see the status bar or Tools | Language | Set Language)?

Yes, the proofing tool is installed. In fact swedish grammer check is working
fine (after I have gone through the iterations of the error messages as
explained in my first post), but the spelling check does not work.

"Detect and repair" from the Help menu does not change anything - the problem
is still present.

The other option ("Add remove programs" and then "Change") generates the
error message "Fatal error during installation" and nothing more. Strange.

Apparently, there is something wrong with your installation. There are some
knowledge base articles that discuss the "Fatal error during installation"

this was a good point - thanks a lot. I have ordered for the Office
installation CD (which is stored at another geographical location in our
multi-office company), and I will revert to this group with the results.
