Word 2003 Stamping

D

Dan Christman

I am looking for help on creating a personalized stamp. This used to
be easy in earlier versions of Word.

Basically, this is what I am trying to do...

A. Create a text box
B. Show the Following Information (in specific font and format)
- My Name, My Title
- My Company Name
- My Phone Number
- My Email Address and/or Web Site
C. Fit the contents of B into the text box, which is then aligned to
the top right of
the page.

So far, I can do all of the above, except to get the contents in the
aligned text box.
In earlier versions of Word, this was very simple.

Basically, what I am doing is attaching my company contact information
to all incoming documents.

If anyone can help, my email address is (e-mail address removed)

A couple of questions, and an observation:

- Are you doing this with a macro? (I'd assume that, because you
posted in a VBA newsgroup, but I'm not sure because you never
mentioned it.) If so, please paste your code into a reply.

- In what way is your current attempt failing? Is there something you
don't know how to do, or are you trying something that isn't working?

- Observation: There haven't been any changes in Word or VBA since
Word 2000 that should affect the sort of task you described. How did
you do it before? What's different now?

Yes, I am trying to do this in a macro

The last version I used prior to 2003 was for Win 98.

I am an executive recruiter.

I am basically using the Macro recorder to create text (in company
approved formatted colors and fonts - including the trademark symbol).

What I am unable to do is to get this information into a text box, so
that I can attach my company contact information on resumes when I
forward them to a client.

Under the old version of word, I was able to do this without a problem.
Under the new version, you can not use the text box function while
recording a macro.

You don't need a macro for this. Save the formatted 'stamp' as an autotext
entry (or formatted autocorrect entry).

I don't think that will work.

The stamp requires specific formatting on 6 separate lines of text,
including a hyperlink. It also needs to sit separate from the document
so that the candidate can remove it, and so that it does not impact the
formatting of the resume.

I have not seen those options under the autotext menu.

Since this info on the stamp contains contact information and phone
number, I am not posting it here. However, I am sending it to your
gmayor.com email address, with a copy of this posting.

Yes it will. Put all your elements in a text box. Set the text box layout
property to 'In front of text' then with the text box selected ALT+F3 and
call it "Stamp". I have sent you a sample template with an example based on
your GIF for you to mess around with.

Thanks!

I actually used the template, with some of the steps that I have been
working on so far.

Came out great - thanks again
