Word 2003 Startup Error 1605

I am having problems with an error 1605 whenever I start MS Word 2003. It
never happened when I used Office XP and only appeared after upgrading to
Office 2003.

The error says:-
Microsoft Word can't display the template used for this document. Microsoft
Word cannot install the necessary files due to a Windows Installer error
1605. This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.

I ave looked at a supposed fix on MS Knowledge base but it doesn't work. I
don't believe it is a template coruption because I have tried removing all
templates and re-installing.

I have been told that there may be a registry problem, but I cannot find the
fix anywhere, does anyone know of this problem and solution?
