Word 2003 stuck in symbol mode.

Recently had this issue. When inserting a "degree" symbol from "insert" then
"symbol" then closing the dialouge box, word would only show a box character
no matter what letter was typed. Could not change font etc.
Any ideas?

Hi,

Which font, which symbol did you use?
You shouldn't get any problems with the regular degree sign ° = U+00B0 =
Alt+0176 (which is included in nearly every font).
It has a default keyboard shortcut, too, which should show if you select the
character and open the "Insert > Symbol" dialog.
