Word 2003 & tablet/pen

Can anyone tell me please .... does Word 2003/XP work (without additional
software) with a Wacom Graphire tablet and pen ? All I want to do is
annotate Word docs.

The spec implies that it does but is not 100% clear - I want to know before
upgrading from Word 2000.

Thanks

If you mean can you pick up the pen and "write" on a document, I can't - at
least not easily. I can use the pen to highlight things or select menu
functions, but the program you want is OneNote if you want to be able to
"doodle". If I select Drawing and choose a free form line I can write a word
but the moment you lift the pen that item is done and you need to select it
all over again.

Please note: I could very well be wrong. There may be some way to do what
you want.

just some thoughts for you; i'm seriously considering reverting to word
2k from 2003.
in my humble opinion, 2003 is a complete bastard to use.
now, that's just because i'm used to 2k, you might think. but it seems
that the programmers have decided that 2003 should, by default, make all
your decisions for you, and the ability to turn off such decisions is
buried deep within the bowels of the program.
i have a wacom graphire, but haven't tried it the way you're describing.
i wouldn't heap any more complexities onto word 2003!
if your graphire works with 2k, why change?!!

Problem is that it's stopped working - 2000 needs a 3rd party prog for the
annotate/draw on a Word doc (I have PenOffice) but it's developed some sort
of conflict that uninstall/reinstall can't rectify.

Have to say I've heard similar reports on the "control" aspect of 2003 and
am not convinced to spend the money
