Word 2003:The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is

I get the above error along with an install box everytime I open a document
from a location other than Word (File, Open) I am not running Norton AV.
Any ideas? This has been happening throughout the company since converting
from Office 97 to Office 2003.

Have you tried Alt+TABing to see if you can switch to this open dialog?

It sounds like the Windows Installer is attempting to install
something and it's creating a conflict since Word is attempting to
perform two actions at once, update the installation and open the
document.

See if repairing the Office installation by going to Help/Detect and
Repair clears it up.
