We recently had this problem on a network where we had installed a brand new
HP server. Slow network performance, messages from Outlook "trying to
retrieve data from exchange server" and Word just plain failing to save to a
network mapped drive with the subject error message.
Followed past UG messages on this, but since we were not running Veritas AV
on the server, and since we had installed all the latest security patches
and and OS updates and disabled SMB signing in group policy on the server,
we were stumped.
Even more stumped when the Administrator, logging on to a workstation,
couldn't save to a network share either.
After about 5 hours of searching permissions, checking rights, swapping
profiles, & etc. we checked out LAN card - it is an Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT set
to 100Mb Full Duplex. We reset it to Auto, and Voila!
Hope this helps somebody!
Cheers all.
