Word 2003 Type mismatch error

Every time I start Word 2003, either from double-clicking a .doc file or the
Word icon on my desktop I get a small popup headed ZnWordAddIn with the
message "Type mismatch". If I click "OK" it goes away and everything seems
to work normally. I'm using Office Pro 2003 SP2, and just updated to SP3 -
but it made no difference. I'm running XP Home on a P4 Prescott 2.8 with
1GB mem and heaps of HDD.
It's not a huge problem - just annoying - but I would appreciate a fix.

Since the error message refers to a particular add-in, try uninstalling it.
Sometimes, you can uninstall the add-in via Add and Remove Programs in
Control Panel; if this is not an option, see this KB article:

How to troubleshoot problems that occur when you start or use Word 2003 or
Word 2002

Thanks for your response, Stefan. This problem is now sorted, but not
without some difficulty. I had no idea what "ZnWordAddIn" represented, so
could not uninstall it. I printed "KB/820919/en-us", and followed
instructions to the letter. This showed that the offending add-in belonged
to a program called "Stuffit" by Alladin Software, so I renamed it and Word
2003 now starts without that annoying pop-up. I'll leave it "as is" for a
while until I decide whether I need the Stuffit functionality.
Thanks again,
Mike

I'm glad you got it sorted. Indeed, finding the source of a certain add-in
may require some work. Applications should really include instructions on
what add-ins they install, and how to get rid of them.
