Word 2003 typing problem

While typing text I periodically discover that the cursor has jumped to
somewhere in the middle of previously typed text 3 or 4 lines and is
entering my text at that point. I can't find anything I am doing in my
typing to cause this unless I am accidentally hitting some control key my
mistake. Any ideas of what is causing this. Its like it has a mind of its
own.

If you are using a laptop, keep your hands away from the touchpad. If you're
using Speech Recognition, turn off the mike.

Thank you very much Susan. I am using a Dell Lap Top and I am almost
certain that I am accidentally hitting the touch pad.
