Word 2003 - View/Markup

G

Glenn Fincher

Since going to Word 2003, everytime I open a doc, it shows any changes made
in the document. If I look at the View menu, I always see Markup selected.
How do I turn off View/Markup as a default? I haven't found any
corresponding setting in the Tools/Options dialog nor directions in help as
to how to turn this off?

From the Word Help files

Clicking Markup on the View menu will display or hide all of the markup
for selected reviewers in the document. When you display all markup, all
types of markup will be selected on the Show menu.

That is true - what I want to do is turn off Markup by default when Word
first opens. Out of the box, it is always on & I have to turn it off! A
permanent toggle is what I am looking for...

Hi Glenn,

It's under Tools/Options but on the Security tab. :)

Turn off "Make hidden markup visible when opening or saving".

And that is why we have MVP's! Thanks!
