word 2003 will not load

i have a p 3.0 with 1 gig of memory and a 250 gig hard drive with ati x800xt
video card. i have xppro and office 2003 basic. i just noticed that word 2003
will not load. i uninstalled it did a reinstall , opened word in safe mode
and tried a repair to no avail ran antivirus antispyware and malicious
software removal tool. please help
