word 2003 will not open at all after saving document from internet

I reviewed a handout sample document from a library research seminar on the
internet, then saved to my main computer and then saved again under a
different file name. The file immediately minimized and would not open at
all. You can see the minmize action but can't see the document. Tried
opening Word 2003 itself and could not. Unable to open word or any word
documents. Can save to a flash drive and open on another computer. I have a
seminar presentation tonight at 6:30 PM, so HELP?

Additional info: researched and instructed to use winword /a; was able to
open word and all documents; this suggest problem with corruption with
template normal.dot or word star-up path. Advised to change normal.dot to
normal.old to fix problem but I can't find the file normal.dot. Am I going
in the right direction? Help?

Thank You Ms Suzanne for validating my approach o this issue--I took your
advice and went to the site; navigated the maze of steps (had to use option
2) and I must have done something correct because I am now able to open all
of my word documents normally. Appreciate your timely response. Apologize
for not getting back soonest--been away from home computer.
