Suddenly, whenever Word opens a document, it is turning View > Markup on.
This is happening even when I open a .txt file as the first file I open when
I launch Word. A .txt file is not capable of having markup.
After reading various threads on the subject, I have discovered:
- This occurs whether or not Tools > Options > Security > Make hidden markup
visible when opening or saving is checked.
- This occurs even if Track Changes is not set for a file when I open it.
- This occurs even if Track Changes is not set, I accept all changes (of
which there are none), and save the file and reopen it.
- If I actually edit a Word file (such as inserting and deleting a space),
accept all changes, then save it, then on reopen View > Markup will not be
checked. But this is a pain and inefficient.
How do I get Word to not exhibit this behavior? If I am using Adobe Acrobat
9 to create a binder, Acrobat will not tag documents for accessibility if
Word opens them with View > Markup checked.
Has Word 2003 been updated recently? This behavior seems to have started
appearing in the last month.
Word 2003 version 11.8202.8202 SP3
Adobe CS4 Web Suite also installed
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
