Word 2003 window will not fully maximize when Outlook is open

I found a weird glitch in Office 2003. Sometimes when Outlook 2003 is open,
Word 2003 window will not maximize, leaving an empty space at the top of the
screeen about 1/4 down. However, it thinks it is maximized (it does not move
and the indicator in the right upper corner also shows that it is maximized.
It is annoying. Is there a fix?
