Word 2003 won't save to NAS

Office 2003 Small Business, Vista Home Premium, Athlon 6400X2, 4gb

note: Word is the only application in or out of Office that will not save to
an online NAS (Buffalo). All other MS Office products work fine.

Get the old rights message that "either the drive is full or you are out of
memory". Have tried everything I know of, firewall on/off, ip address hard
coded. Don't see anything in Word Options that is out of place.

Help! Have several other PC on net, both XP and Vista. This one PC is the
only one with this issue.

CM...I also have this problem with a Buffalo NAS. Again, Word is the only
program that has this problem and the other machines in the office work
normally with the NAS...I've posted this problem on Buffalo storage forums,
but so far I've not had a reply.

Are you able to save to your local HDD and then COPY the document to the
NAS? Are you able to open a document that is stored on the NAS? Do you have
full permissions in the folder on the NAS (full write, overwrite and delete
permissions)?

Terry,

Yes...I can save "normally" to local HDD.
Yes...I can copy from local HDD to NAS.
Yes...I can "pull" and edit a document from the NAS...just can not save it
back to the NAS without generating the "full" or "out of memory" errors. (I
can also save files to another computer across the network...just not the
NAS.)
I have not checked specifically for the permissions, but this computer has
only one user who is an administrator. Other programs, for example using
Works spreadsheet program will save to the NAS without errors.
This speems to be some specific "reaction" between Word and the Buffalo NAS.

It sounds like a strange permissions problem on the NAS server. Unlike other
Office apps, Word needs to be able to write temp files and delete them as it
builds up the document structure.

Are you able to save if you choose a different format such as html, rtf or
wps?
