I have noticed over the past week that whenever I am in a Word Document, the
"Word is Calculating the Word Count" keeps flashing across the bottom of my
screen every 10 - 15 seconds.
The last update applied to my machine was October 31, 2006. The documents I
am working in do have a Table of Contents as well as an Index.
I noticed as well that if I opened a new document, typed some text, marked
an index entry that the message did not start "flashing" until I saved the
document. This message seems to occur even when it is just plain text and no
formatting. The message starts flashing as soon as I save the document.
What could be causing this message to come up so often?
I also noticed that some of my other settings had changed (one being the
checkbox beside "Typing Replaces Selection" under Tools and Edit tab was
unchecked).
As I did not make any changes to my settings, I'm wondering if one of the
recent updates did it?
Any ideas about why this is happening would be greatly appreciated.
