Word 2003 XML embed Excel object

Hi,

Is there a way to embed an Excel object into Word 2003
XML without using Word at all? I was able to it with
pictures, by encoding the picture to base64 string and
then inserting it into Word XML. I noticed using Word
and viewing the XML of a document with an embedded Excel,
there is a binary representation of the Excel object and
a graphical representation of the Excel in the body. How
to I generate the binaries of both with the Excel file?
