Word 2003

I created a template that uses field codes that prompt the user to enter
certain data. When I use the template to create the document, the page is
blank (i.e. Date: [enter today's date] = field code instructions), none of
the information I have on the template shows up until the user has gone
through all the prompts. Then the entire document is populated with the
template text as well as the input from the user. How do I get the text I
want to show so that the user knows what he is using?

What kind of fields are you using? Mail Merge?
