Word 2004 annoyance: insertion point won't move after deletion

In Word 98, when you delete a word or some letters (Track Changes on),
then press the right arrow key, the insertion point will reappear, then
you can continue moving with the arrow key.

In Word 2004, you delete a word (Track Changes on), then press the arrow
key and nothing happens. If you keep pressing it as many times as there
are deleted letters, finally it will reappear.

Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround?

Hmm. I can't make Word do that.
Are you in page view or normal view? Can you see the balloons? How are
you deleting the word? Which of the track changes checkboxes do have
enabled?

Normal view. Track Changes on. Delete word with option-del (delete to
right).

I does the "right thing" here. If I have highlight changes on screen
enabled, I see the cursor march throught the struck out deleted word.
If I have it off, the cursor marches along as though the invisible
deleted word were never there.

Try fiddling with all the highlight changes settings and options to see
if your problem goes away. I can't bring it on. So I'm not much help.

Have you tried Cmd+RtArrow rather than just the Arrow? Not sure it will make
difference, but moving 'by word' instead of 'by character' just might do it.

HiHo Elliott (with 2 t's)-

Yes, does it show? Apparently they were desperate for new blood & in a
moment of weakness I succumbed to their enticements :)
