Word 2004 "Application Not Responding" after awakening from Sleep

Could ANYONE please help me? I JUST bought Word 2004 as an upgrade for Word
X for my Mac. It works great but when I wake the computer it freezes and I
have to do a force quit. This is quite frustrating as I do a lot of writing
and I have to rerun Word, load all of my docs and start all over again. Any
ideas? I tried fixing permissions, I have Norton's A/V 10.0, and it's a
"clean" machine, not much else installed on it.

I would greatly appreciate any help

Such consistent and reproducible problems in Word usually respond to one of
the standard troubleshooting measures, which you will find listed here:

http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/TroubleshootingIndex.htm
(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)

Work through them one by one until something helps. If nothing does, post
back.

Norton Anti-Virus has a tendency to cause problems, though, you might want
to try disabling that as a test as well.
