Recently we are having the following problem:
If an Outlook 2003 user receives a Word 2004 (.doc) (macintosh) document as
an email attachment, user cannot open the document. Instead "The File
Conversion" dialog box appears with "The Preview" pane contains strange or
unreadable characters
However if Outlook 2003 user forwards this email to an Outlook 2007 user.
Outlook 2007 user can open the document without any problem.
If Outlook 2003 user saves this attachment, its size ~128 byte larger than
the original file size. Both Word 2003 and 2007 cannot open this saved
document and show "The File Conversion" dialog.
If Outlook 2007 user saves the attachment, both Word 2003 and 2007 can open
the document without any problem.
If you try opening this document using Outlook Web Access (Exchange Server
2003) by saving it first, Word 2003 and Word 2007 cannot open it. Its size
~153 byte larger than the original file size.
Any ideas, suggestions?
Note: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926909 does not help.
