Word 2004 coversion of Wordperfect files

I'm running a Macbook with OS X v 10.4 and MS OFFICE 2004. Is there any
way that I can covert Wordperfect 8 files to Word 2004? My Word 2003 on
my PC does it perfectly - except for a few special character changes.

I'm currently converting on the PC, writing to disc, reading on the Mac
and then saving as Word 2004 after punctuation corrections. It words,
but I'd like to do it directly in one step on the Mac.

Any suggestions?

Mac Word stopped including WP translators several versions back. If you have
a continuing need you might want to invest in MacLinkPlus... highly

This has been a great product for years. Wonder if I can get my version
3 serial to qualify for the upgrade price?
