Word 2004 crops pages on form with narrow margins

One of my users has a form he recieves from another company that has
its formatting locked. The margins are only 1/4 inch on each side, and
when I try to print, it crops the sides and top of the page. I have
set the printer to automatically scale all print jobs to fit the page,
however Word is cropping it before it even gets to the printer (if I go
into print preview, its already cropped there). I can't find a setting
to fix this. I cannot get into that form's page setup because of the
formatting lock. Copying the document into a new one won't work either
because he needs to send it back after filling out the fields and
having him copy back and forth will not be acceptable. It was not a
problem on Word 2001 and on the PCs Word 2003 doesn't have this problem
either. Am I missing something really simple here? Thanks in advance,
Josh.

Hmmm. I don't have a good answer for you; maybe someone else will. In the
meantime, can you contact the sender and ask them to reduce the size of the
document at their end?

Asking the sender to reduce the size is not really an option. This
form is part of some sciencetific study group (I work for a university)
and gets sent out to hundreds of campuses, and since it works on all
versions of Word (PC and Mac) except 2004, they probably won't try to
fix it. I find there is very little care when things don't seem to
play nice on the Macs. In the meantime, I have installed an old copy
of Word 2001, which prints the document fine. Thanks for your
suggestion and hopefully someone else will have some ideas.

How about going to page setup and change percent from 100 to say 90%.

The try printing does that help?

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunatly I am unable to send the document
due to its content. I did however find a few things out.

It appears that word 2004 auto formats your page based on your print
driver. For this reason, even though I had the printer set to auto
shrink instead of crop in print setup, it was already cropped before it
got that far because as soon as I chose the HP printer, it word itself
autocropped the print area, which in turn I couldn't modify back
because the form had page setup locked. For some reason this is only
effecting Word 2004, not Word 2001 or other apps.

I went out and downloaded open source drivers for the HP laserjets from
http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/ and these drivers seem to
play better with Word 2004.
