Word 2004 displays "Error!" for Word X file

I have a file created in Word X that has a table where one of the cells
contains an EQ field-code object.

This works fine in Word X. In Word 2004, what appears on the screen and in
print is just the line "Error!"

If the field-code object is taken out of the table, everything is fine.

So you can't rely on previous documents working when you upgrade.

Obviously a Microsoft bug, not a support issue. But I have not been able to
find a way of reporting bugs to Microsoft. Don't they care?

Hi Ron:

Now, you *do* have the Unicode version of the MathType fonts installed,
right?

I wonder if the error is due to the character you are asking for not being
available on your machine?

Cheers
