Word 2004 doc freezes w/ Endnote X1

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC

I had the Demo version of Endnote and it worked really well. I ordered the student version of Endnote X1 and installed it and now my document freezes every time I insert a citation. I have Mac OS 10.5.4, Word 2004 v 11.5.0, and Endnote X1.
