WORD (2004 for Mac) crashes when trying to open a WORD document.

When I try to open a WORD document-either recent or old-I get a message that
"Word has encountered file corruption . . ." and the file will not open and
Word crashes (and burns). This is a sudden occurance-worked well
yesterday-today Kaboom!

I use OS 10.3.5. I have attempted to remove all WORD application files and
have reloaded to no avail. Then I moved the following files to the
desktop/trash: NORMAL, com.microsoft.Word.plist,
com.microsoft.Word.prefs.plist.

All to no avail!

Help, PLEASE!
