Word 2004 For Mac Table Cell Capitalization

H

Henri Blits

When working in a table, I undid the capability for capitalizing the
first letter in each cell. Smart Tag came up and I unchecked that
functionality. Now I can't get it back. I don't get any Smart Tag to
re-initialize/re-check the capitalization feature, nor do I see it my
AutoCorrect menu other than "Capitalize first letter of sentence"
checkbox. It shows checked anyway...When I look into the Windows
version of WORD (my wife's PC)..I see a checkbox for "Capitalize first
letter of table cells". Why do I not see that option in the MAC version
of Word 2004? Am I not looking at the right place?
Thanks,
Henri

Hello Henri -

You have, unfortunately, bitten into one of the juicier bugs in Word 2004 -
the SmartTags let you turn *OFF* the Capitalize First in tables easily
enough, but there is no readily available 'switch' to turn it back *ON*
again {are you listening MacBU?}. It apparently got left out of the UI.

I believe someone has a macro to reactivate the feature, but not I. Keep
checking back as I'm sure it will show up sooner or later.

Hi Henri:

Here it is:

Sub AutoCorrectFirstLetterOfTableCells()
Application.AutoCorrect.CorrectTableCells = True
End Sub

Thank you, John...
Would you mind terribly if I asked you to give me a brief step-by-step
for installing this Macro...I tried doing it myself, but couldn't get
it to work..
Thanks again for your patience and support.
