I am having an when saving a word doc to our mac server via afp. When I
reopen and save the doc it is creating Word Work File D_1, Word Work
File D_2, and so on and so on after each save. These are like temp
files that should be removed after the docment saves. It works fine for
other user and she has proper access just like everyone else. This does
not occur when she saves the file locally to her computer. Anyone have
any thoughts?

Hmmm... Another one! Unusual to get three reports around the same issue in
a week...

Have a look at this article:
http://word.mvps.org/Mac/CantSaveToServer.html

If you are not sure which parts apply to you, then we need to know the
version and level numbers for your operating system (client and server) and
the patch level of Word.

Cheers

I am working on version OS 10.4.8 and Mircrosoft Word 11.3 (060914),
which is the most current update for both.

Hi,
I am not only having that issue but saving is taking a LOOOOONG time.
I am a net admin for a K-12 with nearly 5000 students using Office 2004
saving to AFP shares on servers running MS Server 2003. I do know this
that I am seeing the same results while saving to AFP on Server 2000.
I also see the same slowness and work files when using Group Logic's
ExtremeZ-IP AFP acceleration software.
Why so slow to save? Why the work files? I did create a
..TemporaryItems folder at the root of one of my AFP shares and in less
than 24 hours it has bloated to 73.4MB.
Any thoughts appreciated.
